The Kamehameha Highway Drainage and Safety Improvements Project in the Vicinity of Laniakea Beach, located on the North Shore of Oahu, this beach is known for its stunning beauty and famous surf spots. The North Shore beach is also a popular destination for both locals and tourists and is the home to a large population of sea turtles that can often be seen resting on the shoreline.

Situation
In response to growing traffic and safety concerns, Goodfellow Bros. is undertaking a significant roadway improvement project awarded by the State Department of Transportation (HDOT) near the beach.
Solution
The goal is to improve the existing roadway and parking area that runs alongside Laniakea Beach, making it safer and more efficient for both vehicles and pedestrians. The project involves realigning the existing roadway, constructing a two span bridge that crosses Lauhala Stream, drainage improvements, street lighting installation, and utility relocations. This project would offer the public an improved allocated parking area to access the popular beach without having to cross dangerous traffic flows on Kamehameha Highway.
